Dix Park to host weekend skywatching session

Posted — UpdatedDix Park near downtown Raleigh will hold a two-hour skywatching session this weekend.
It's 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, at the park's big field at 101 Blair Dr., Raleigh. Staff and volunteers from Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society and Raleigh Astronomy Club will offer the free program.
Telescopes will be set up to view stars and the moon. Educators will guide participants as they look for stars, planets, moons, nebulae and other celestial objects. This is a drop-in, informal session, so you can come and go at any time. But organizers ask that you pre-register so they can send participants more information as it gets closer to the day of the event.
