Theatre Raleigh's Family Series opens this weekend with "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and I'm so excited to have teamed up with them for a special discount and activity for Go Ask Mom readers for two upcoming shows!

First up is the 3 p.m., Sunday, March 11, performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." This is a 50-minute, kid-friendly version of the Shakespeare classic that combines popular music, references and dance moves with the words of Shakespeare. I had a chance to see it Friday night and, as I remember it was from last year, this year's show is so much fun.

In Theatre Raleigh's version, a new character, called The Kid and played by the impressive Seth Schenall, an eighth grader from Edgecombe County, explains in today's English just exactly what's happening. Puck, in this version, is played as a cheerleader. And, because the show takes place in Kennedy Theatre, a small black box theater at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, it's an incredibly intimate experience. Often, the audience is pulled into the action.

For the March 11 show, Go Ask Mom readers can get a 15 percent discount by using offer code goaskmom. To use the code, go to Theatre Raleigh's website to purchase tickets. Starting at 2 p.m., March 11, when the doors open, I'll also be there with crafts. We'll be making fairy wands!
Go Ask Mom will return again for Theatre Raleigh's second show in its Family Series - "Adventure Road: A Story of Tom and Huck." This show, again, takes a different spin on these Mark Twain classics. The show, which also will run 50 minutes, promises to feature a variety of audience participation.
For the 3 p.m., Sunday, April 15, show, Go Ask Mom again will team up with Theatre Raleigh, offering that 15 percent discount. Just use the offer code goaskmom again on Theatre Raleigh's website. Go Ask Mom also will offer a craft at the show starting at 2 p.m.

I hope to see you there!
