Dinosaurs star in movie at natural science museum's 3D theater

The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences is now showing Dinosaurs Alive!, a 3D adventure that explores the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods as well as modern dinosaur research.

The movie features dinosaurs that are visually created with realistic computer generation and 3D effects. Viewers also will learn about the modern search for more fossilized clues as the footage follows paleontologists through the Gobi desert and Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.

The movie, narrated by Michael Douglas, runs 20 minutes. Showtimes are 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Sunday.

The museum is still showing Tornado Alley in the WRAL 3D Theater. Showtimes are 10 a.m., noon and 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Sunday.

Tickets for either film are $4 for adults; $3.50 for seniors 65 and up, students and military; and $3 for kids ages 2 to 11. Admission to the museum, as always, is free.
