The following is the opinion of Capitol Broadcasting Company.

Protesting and social distancing may seem oxymoronic.

They are not. The can, in these days of COVID-19, be matters of life and death – transcending the issues, concerns and points of view demonstrators seek to raise. It is not just about protecting your own health, but showing concern for the health of others.

So, as a reminder to ALL who take to the streets or otherwise gather to voice concerns, give light to injustice or demand change -- take the advice of Dr. Mandy Cohen, state secretary of Health and Human Services.

She says anyone who’s been protesting should think about getting tested for COVID-19. "If you are protesting, or at a mass gathering a lot, we want to make sure folks do get tested and know that that is available to them," she said.

North Carolina’s COVID-19 information website provides a search to find a testing site based on home address; city or county. Just click HERE.
