Governor Roy Cooper and Dr. Mandy Cohen, secretary of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, recently fielded some queries about the COVID-19 pandemic from a different set of questioners — kids.

Last month on his Twitter page, Cooper shared the nearly eight-minute video where he and Dr. Cohen fielded four questions via video from kids ages 7 to 18.

One seven-year-old boy asked a question that's probably on just about every kids' mind, "What will school look like when I return in the fall? Do you know?"

"Part of the answer is we just don't know quite yet what school is going to look like," Dr. Cohen replied. "... Maybe your desks might be farther apart. You might have lunch in your classroom. Maybe not field trips."

Other questions, including one from Dr. Cohen's daughter, sought answers about how students in rural areas are expected to participate in remote learning in areas with limited internet access; why face masks are strongly encouraged; and whether North Carolina is prepared for a second wave of coronavirus.
