Most children's consignment sales in the region hold two sales a year - one in the summer or fall featuring fall and winter clothes and another in the winter or spring featuring spring and summer clothes.

Hannah's Closet, a business run by a mom and daughter duo, will be doing things a little differently. Starting this July, the sale will hold an annual event featuring children's clothes and gear from all seasons. As Dianne Waggoner, one of the founders tells me, they know that moms are always shopping ahead.

The idea for the sale started when Waggoner found herself out of work in 2008 when the greeting card company that she was the vice president of was sold to a larger one. She loved shopping with her daughter, Brittany, for her new granddaughter at consignment sales. The two decided to hold a sale at their church, Fellowship Baptist in Willow Spring. The first sale was held in November.

The two, who are now joined by Megan Weist and Amy Lowman, wanted their sale to help three groups of people: Families that need to make a little extra money by consigning, the women's outreach group at their church and new mothers. Part of the sale's donations and proceeds support A Hand of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in Fuquay-Varina.

The sale is scheduled for July 30. The public sale is 8 a.m. to noon. Some items are half price from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. And the fill-a-bag sale, when shoppers pay just $4 for whatever they can fit in a grocery bag, is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

I have added the sale to our consignment sale database, which I'm in the process of updating for the coming season.
