Go Ask Mom playdate May 7, 2014

I'm very excited to be hosting one of our regular events at North Hills from 10 a.m. to noon, July 8.

This time we're doing things a little differently from our usual Go Ask Mom events at North Hills. We'll be stretching out along the new Midtown Park, which sits on the east side of Six Forks Road (the side with the Harris Teeter). The one-acre park features a big grassy area for kids to run around.

And because of that big open space, we'll be hosting some fun, active games for kids courtesy of Marbles Kids Museum and the YMCA of the Triangle.

Marbles will bring out some of its favorite Radical Recess games such as hula hoops, Ogo sport, parachute games and more. Kids also will be able to make their own recycled jump ropes. Christa Dreese, Marbles' healthy-active play specialist, will be out with all kinds of tips and ideas.
First-In Fire Company will bring out its fire truck for kids to climb in, on and explore.
N.C. Theatre, which is gearing up for a production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" will be out with information and activities.
And Broadway Series South will be on site to share more information and activities about the Storybook Theater performances, including "How I Became a Pirate," which opens July 9.

As usual, we also will offer free child IDs, small cards with your child's vital information and fingerprints on it to carry in your wallet in case of emergency.

The Chick-fil-A cow will be there from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The newly named Flour Power Kids Cooking Studio, formerly Lil' Chef, will offer a yummy activity for kids. The studio, with programs for kids to teens, will move from the west side of North Hills to a space across from Midtown Park later this year.
Oscar William Cotton Candy will be on hand with samples of its gourmet cotton candy, which uses no artificial colors or flavorings.

And we will have more! I'm squaring away the details on a few more activities. So stay tuned. I hope to see you there!

And, mark your calendars: We'll have another event at the Midtown Farmers' Market at North Hills on Saturday, Sept. 13.

North Hills Kids, free play time for kids, is offered through the end of August from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday, on the commons on the west side of Six Forks Road.

Starting in June, North Hills began offering free play for kids on Tuesday mornings through Aug. 19 at the new Midtown Park.
