Cary looking for volunteers for its fall litter sweep

If you're looking for a volunteer opportunity for your kids, family or youth group or your teen needs to pick up some volunteer hours, Cary is looking for volunteers to take part in its annual fall litter sweep next Saturday.

It's from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, across the town. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old or come with a guardian. The town provides volunteers with bags, gloves, safety vests and trash grabbers. The goal is to get rid of litter in Cary's neighborhoods, parks, businesses and public spaces.

“Pick a spot in Cary that has special meaning to you, and have a direct impact on the beautification and environmental health of our community," said Sarah Justice, Conservation Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator, in a release.

My seven-year-old daughter has picked up litter at her school as part of a group that she participates in and it's been a really rewarding and educational experience for her. She's seen how much impact she can have by just spending a couple of hours picking up litter. It also has reinforced to her just how irresponsible littering is.
