Bank of America sent customers a message notifying them of delays in online transactions using the digital payments network Zelle.

The company has received thousands of reports of outages in the last 24 hours, according to the website DownDetector.com.

Bank of America had the following message for customers who log in to their online accounts:

"Zelle transactions made between January 14 and January 17 may be delayed in occurring and posting to accounts as requested," Bank of America's message read to customers. "Transfers will be completed and will appear in your account activity and balances as soon as possible.

"We apologize for any delay or inconvenience."

Bank of America spokesperson Bill Halldin said the company has resolved the issue with Zelle.

On Tuesday, thousands of people posted on social media about the problems the delays have caused.
