Babies compete for college savings account at UNC game, but then one stopped to wave at Rameses

Lleyton Webb of Hillsborough won the $529 grand prize, which will be contributed to an NC 529 account. College Foundation Inc. sponsored the Diapers to Dorms Dash to promote the college savings accounts.

It looked like little Lleyton might come in second in the "race" as a little girl sped ahead of him toward her mother. But she got swept up in the excitement and took a break to wave at UNC's mascot, Rameses, who was crawling along with the babies. The crowd went wild, and the announcer asked, "Are you even her mom?" It's adorable and is all featured in the video above.

The three other contestants won $25 in an NC 529 account for participating.

The Diapers to Dorms Dash, now a regular event at North Carolina sporting events, is a reminder that it's never too early to start saving for your child's college education. The NC 529 Plan is a tax-advantaged way to save for a child’s future education needs. Earnings are not subject to state or federal taxes if the money is used for qualified education expenses.
