Art museum hosts meet the author program for young readers

Author Francesca Rappa will talk about her book series The Adventurous Melody West and the works of art that inspired her as she wrote the stories.

Here's another event to add to a busy weekend!

The N.C. Museum of Art will host a meet the author event at 2 p.m., Saturday. Francesca Rappa will talk about her book series, The Adventurous Melody West, which takes inspiration from works of art at the museum.

Rappa, who also is a senior docent at the museum where she leads tours for children, will talk about the process of writing her book and answer questions about the book, writing stories and being an author.

After the Q&A, she will lead a small group tour in the galleries and highlight the pieces that inspired her writing. You don't need to sign up for the talk, but you do need to preregister for the tour led by Rappa. There are still some spots open.

The program is best for fifth to eighth graders, give or take a year depending on their reading ability.
