DURHAM, N.C. — One of two men wanted in an 11-year-old Durham homicide has been arrested in Kansas, police said Wednesday.

Edgar Arellano Sanchez, 33, is in the Kiowa County jail in Greensburg, Kan., about a 100 miles west of Wichita, awaiting extradition to Durham on charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Police didn't provide any details about how he was found.

Marcos Arellano Sanchez remains at large and is wanted on the same charges.

Daniel Guerrero, 27, was stabbed June 21, 2003, in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4230 Garrett Road. According to witnesses, there was an argument at a party, and two men followed Guerrero out of an apartment to the parking lot, where he was stabbed several times in the torso.

A second man suffered a minor stab wound as he tried to help Guerrero, who died a week later at UNC Hospitals.

Anyone with information on Marcos Arellano Sanchez's whereabouts is asked to call Durham police at 919-560-4440, extension 29336, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
