A Publix grocery store is officially coming to Clayton, NC.
Back in April 2019, papers were filed with the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality for a 46,000 sq. ft. store in Clayton and on October 7, a spokesperson for Flowers Plantation confirmed that the business will be a Publix grocery store.

According to jocoreport.com, Reid Stephenson announced the name of the store to the Johnston County Commissioners on October 7.
Flowers Plantation has also confirmed the Publix location on their Facebook page.
In addition, on October 9, Kim Reynolds, Media & Community Relations Mgr. with Publix Super Markets shared, "I can confirm that we have signed a lease for a new store in Clayton, NC to be located at the Marketplace at Flowers Crossroads on the southeast corner of Highway 42 and Flowers Parkway. An opening date is still to be determined. We are excited to serve Clayton and expand our footprint across the region. We look forward to bringing Publix’s premier service and quality which has earned us recognition throughout the industry as well as being active partners in this great community."
There is also a Harris Teeter at the intersection of Highway 42 and Flowers Parkway so this Publix will definitely offer some competition.
