The dates are set for the 2019 Apex United Methodist Church Prom Shoppe. It is 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., March 15, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 16, at the church at 100 S. Hughes St. in Apex.

At this incredible event that has made a big difference for hundreds of families over the years, dresses, shoes, jewelry, makeup and accessories are provided FOR FREE to high school girls. It's intended for girls who can't afford to buy everything they might need for the prom. However, pre-registration and proof of need are NOT required.

Organizers tell me that they still could use some additional donations to ensure that every girl who attends the Prom Shoppe has something to take home.

Here is what they need:

  • Unused makeup
  • Jewelry
  • Plus-size dresses
  • Larger sized shoes

Donations can be dropped off at the church office at 204 Olive St., Apex, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday; the Dress Barn in Holly Springs, 160 Grand Hill Place, Holly Springs; Burke’s Outlet in Beaver Creek Shopping Center; and Moon and Lola in downtown Apex.

Find more information and updates on the Prom Shoppe's Facebook page.
