What is the best place to find precip data for 1/07 - today.

The NWS has a place you can pull up monthly listings with daily and monthly precipitation values for RDU, Greensboro and Fayetteville, at

At this page, the Daily summary, CF6 preliminary data, and monthly summaries all may prove useful.

For more of a visual regional view, you might like to try

Here, you can click on NC to zoom in to our state, add a county overaly, and then select "Current Date - Year to Date" in the time box to the lower left. This will map observed, normal, departure from normal and percent of normal across the area.

Somewhat similar maps for the southeastern U.S. are maintained by the Southeast Regional Climate Center at

although this site does not include a "year to date" selection.

For access to observed precipitation data for a more detailed network of stations (you'd have to add up amounts using monthly values to get year to date) you can pull up precipitation observation from the State Climate Office CRONOS database at

http://www.nc-climate.ncsu.edu/cronos/map/

Here, click the "Information" button, then click on the station of interest and then the "get more info" link for that station, where you can peruse the various options available for retrieving data.
