RALEIGH, N.C. — Dense fog coated the Triangle early Thursday morning.

A dense fog advisory was issued for the WRAL viewing area as visibility in some areas dropped to a quarter-mile or less, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. Visibility increased by 9 a.m. as the fog began to dissipate. It was expected to burn off by mid-morning.

Thursday was expected to be partly cloudy with a high in the mid to upper-80s. Lows overnight are expected in the mid-60s.

An upper-level trough of low pressure over the state Thursday and Friday could induce development of a shower or storm in the afternoon or evening hours both days.
