Two charged in Moore County child abuse

The Moore County Sheriff's Office charged two people with child abuse after a 7-year-old girl was admitted on Tuesday to the Jaycee Burn Center at UNC.

SANFORD, N.C. — Two people were charged with child abuse after a 7-year-old girl was admitted on Tuesday to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at the University of North Carolina with burns to her lower back and legs.
Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff's Office were contacted by the Sanford Police Department about the incident. The deputies then interviewed the victim and her mother who both pointed the finger at Tyrone Davis Moore, of Carthage. They told deputies the child was visiting Moore at the time of her injury. 
Moore was arrested and given a $100,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 26.

Theresea Yvonne Pearson, 25, was also charged with one count of felony neglect/abuse of a child involving serious injury. She was given a $7,500 bond. Pearson's first court date is scheduled for Jan. 26. Pearson's relationship to the victim is unclear.
