RALEIGH, N.C. — Lower humidity will make Tuesday feel more pleasant than the recent string of hot days, but even higher temperatures are on the way this week.

Tuesday’s high is expected to be 86 degrees. The air still felt muggy in the morning after Monday’s rain, but the dew point will fall throughout the day as things become less humid.

Dry air from the north is moving into the area, and a cold front is moving east.

Skies will be mostly clear Tuesday and throughout the week.

Severe storms, including tornadoes and lightning, are hitting the Midwest, but a high-pressure system in the southeast will keep the storms from hitting North Carolina, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

The Triangle will have another hot weekend, with temperatures reaching 96 degrees and feeling like 100 degrees, Gardner said.
