Taser used on Seventy-First High students
A Cumberland County deputy used a Taser on three students involved in a fight at Seventy-First High School Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedThe incident marked the second time in seven months a law enforcement agent has used a Taser on students at the school.
On Wednesday, the students were arguing over a girl when the dispute escalated into a fight outside the school's auditorium shortly after 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
The deputy, whose name wasn't released, is assigned to Seventy-First High as a school resource officer, and he resorted to using his Taser after an unsuccessful attempt at breaking up the fight, authorities said.
The device delivers an electric shock that subdues people.
No injuries were reported.
Students Rashad Smith, 16, Keenan Brown, 18, Deangelo Pine, 16, and Michael Mathis, 18, have been charged with disorderly conduct, simple affray and resisting arrest in the incident.
School officials said the students also will face disciplinary action.
