FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police said Wednesday they are searching for a second man wanted for questioning in a double homicide at a Fayetteville apartment complex last month.

Roderick Earl Smith, 24, of 2502 Slater Ave., is considered a person of interest in the June 23 slayings of Joe "Hawk" Hawkins and his son, Alexis Hawkins, 26. The two men were found dead in their home at Watauga Manor Apartments at 5008-D Watauga Road.

Smith is also wanted on outstanding warrants for arrest stemming from failure to appear in court on outstanding felony drug charge, police said.

Mario Jacquez Boykin, 20, turned himself in on Tuesday on two counts of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon, in connection with the deaths.

Police are still searching for Reginald Walter Watford, 20, of 1603 Morehead Ave., who is also a person of interest in the case.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Watford or Smith should call Fayetteville homicide detectives at 910-433-1856 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
