RALEIGH, N.C. — Police on Wednesday have announced that a woman believed to be kidnapped from Walmart has been located and is safe.

Raleigh police said Jennifer Chatham, 34, was walking with her boyfriend along New Bern Avenue on Tuesday when a man stopped his van and asked if the couple needed a ride.

The driver took them to the Walmart at 4431 New Bern Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., where the boyfriend left the van and went inside the store.

When the boyfriend left the store, the van, driver and Chatham were missing, police said.

Officials located the woman early Wednesday, saying that the woman is fine and had voluntarily left with the driver.

The case is still under investigation, but it seems like a false alarm, according to officials.

No charges will be filed.
