Police: Durham officer seriously injured by suspected impaired driver
A Durham police officer was seriously injured early Saturday when her police car was struck by a suspected impaired driver, according to police.
Posted — UpdatedLt. L.D. Campbell was driving a marked 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe near the intersection of Geer and North Roxboro streets shortly after 3 a.m. when the driver of a 1999 Dodge Durango struck the left front of her vehicle, according to police.
He was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired, driving while his license was revoked, running a red light and simple possession of marijuana. He was released on bond Saturday.
Campbell was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
