WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy who stole a vehicle with a 5-month-old child inside in Greensboro over the weekend.

Winston-Salem Police found the car in Winston-Salem and the child was found safe.

Officials say the teen was also charged for being involved in a shooting that happened in Winston-Salem on Saturday night.

Winston-Salem police say investigators determined the victim, 35-year-old Donald Lowery, Jr., and one of the other teenagers knew each other and that the shooting was not random.

Officials say they have not found evidence that Lowery's murder is connected to the kidnapping.

Both teenagers are in police custody. The teen who stole the vehicle was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and first-degree kidnapping. The other teenager was charged with murder.
