Pittsboro men arrested for meth, marijuana operation

PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County detectives arrested two men suspected of producing methamphetamine and growing marijuana.

Detectives arrested Gregory Midgett, 40, for possession of meth ingredients. In searching a home at 576 Laura Johnson Road in Pittsboro, they found an operational but inactive meth lab and a small, outdoor marijuana plot.

Midgett was charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, manufacture of marijuana, possession of precursor chemicals, exceeding pseudoephedrine limits and possession of marijuana.

Stewart Wingerter, 42, who also lived there, was charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, manufacture of marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.

Both men were being held at the Chatham County jail, pending a hearing on June 15.
