Pedestrian hit, killed on Glenwood Avenue

A Raleigh man died after being hit by a car Tuesday morning on Glenwood Avenue near the Umstead Park entrance.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man died after being hit by a car Tuesday morning on Glenwood Avenue near the Umstead Park entrance.

According to Raleigh police, Patrick James Simmons, of 8321 Neuse Grove Lane, was walking with traffic, and it was a bit foggy when the crash occurred before 6:15 a.m. It is unclear why he was walking on the road.

Yon Hwar See, of 2505 Torbay Court, the driver of the car that hit Simmons, stopped and was cooperating with the investigation.
