173 fugitives arrested around Cumberland County

The operation captured people wanted on felony charges, including sexual predators and fugitives wanted for violent crimes, the Marshals Service said. They also arrested 10 sex offenders and cleared 256 warrants in Cumberland County.

Among the arrests were Harrison Baldwin, 36, of Fayetteville, who was wanted by Fayetteville police for a total of nine charges, including domestic violence, assault on a female, communicating threats, simple assault, second-degree trespassing, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer.

He had been wanted since July 20, 2009, and his charges involve three female victims and one male victim, authorities said.

Law enforcement captured Baldwin Thursday after a brief standoff at a residence in the 200 block of University Street in Fayetteville. They found him hiding in the attic. Andrea Phillips, 35, of Fayetteville, was also arrested and charged with harboring a fugitive and resisting a public officer.

Marshawn Kennard Roberts Thomas, 32, of Fayetteville, was also arrested as part of Operation Urban Shield. He was wanted for first-degree rape. A team of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers arrested him as he got off a plane at Fayetteville Regional Airport.

Michael Malabre, 32, was arrested at his residence in Fayetteville and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling house that was used for keeping and selling a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities said they seized approximately 870 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a .45-caliber handgun, and a 12-gauge shotgun from his residence.

Agencies contributing to Operation Urban Shield were the U.S. Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Police Department and the Cumberland County Alcohol Beverage Control Board.
