DURHAM, N.C. — Orange County sheriff's deputies Monday identified two men found shot to death over the weekend in a house near the Durham County line.

The victims were David Junior Hayden, 49, who lived at the house at 5704 U.S. Highway 70 E., and Willie Robertson Elliott, 31, whose home address was listed as 1010 Moreland Ave., Durham, Investigator Chan P. McDade said.

"The motive for the homicides has not been established," McDade said in a statement.

A woman called 911 at 9:07 a.m. to report discovering a body in the house. Deputies found two bodies inside the house, which has a Durham City address but is in Orange County.

Deputies found the front door of the house kicked in and the bodies in the living room. An autopsy Sunday determined both had been shot to death, McDade said.

The house was rented last December by Demario Montta Thompson, deputies said. They said he had been away Saturday morning when his girlfriend found the dead men after going to the house because she could not reach him, deputies said. He came back after being told what had happened, they said.

Thompson told WRAL News Saturday that he and the victims had grown up in Durham and were roommates.
