RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle Town Center mall was evacuated Saturday night after an altercation involving more than 100 people.

Jennifer Jones, the mall’s marketing director, said police told her the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. and involved the large number of people.

Jones was unaware of any injuries but did say she believed there were arrests. Police had not released Saturday night information regarding arrests.

Mikey Waz was shopping at the mall and witnessed a huge fight. He said it involved about 200 teens who started yelling and fighting on the mall’s upper level. Waz said the incident was quick.

Witnesses said the fight lasted about 20 minutes then spilled outside the mall.

The mall was scheduled to close at 9 p.m., but shoppers were asked to leave around 8 p.m. following the incident.

Jones said the mall will reopen as scheduled at noon on Sunday.

“We will be in contact with the Raleigh Police Department to get more details and obviously, with the shopper in mind, making sure the safety is here,” Jones said.

No additional information was available.
