SPRING LAKE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was searching Friday for two men in connection with a kidnapping and carjacking that ended with a truck crashing into a motel.

Amelia Abrego Cencieros, 42, was carrying a bank deposit as she was leaving her son's restaurant, La Rancherita, at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when she was approached by two Hispanic men, authorities said.

The men grabbed her from behind and forced her at gunpoint into her Ford F-150 pickup truck, authorities said.

As they were traveling north on Bragg Boulevard approaching the intersection of N.C. Highway 87 and Manchester Road, Cencieros grabbed the steering wheel, crashing the vehicle into an unoccupied guest room at the Starlite Motel at 1576 N. Bragg Blvd., authorities said.

Cencieros was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, and she was released Friday afternoon.

The two carjackers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Deputies said they believe the men might have serious injuries to their heads and faces because there was a lot of blood in the truck.

The two men are considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.
