Teen Shot in Durham; Police Seek Assailants

A 16-year-old male was shot several times in the torso in Durham just before 11 a.m. Wednesday. The assailants fled in a red GMC Jimmy SUV.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 16-year-old male was shot several times in the torso in Durham just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The teen, whose name was not released, was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was in serious condition early Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened at Red Maple Park on Hinson Drive. The assailants fled in a red GMC Jimmy SUV, police said.

The teen was near a picnic shelter at Red Maple Park on Hinson Drive at about 10:50 a.m. when he was shot several times, police said.

A motive for the shooting has not been established, and investigators do not have descriptions of the assailants. There were at least two.
