Workshop Teaches Teens to Stay Clean

Posted — Updated

RALEIGH — All parents dream of their children growing upfree of substance abuse and one local group is working to make thathappen.

The Substance Abuse Free Families and Environments Coalition sponsoreda two-day event for local teens. The kids learned not only how to avoiddrugs, but how to get their peers to stay clean as well.

Anthony Harris of the SAFE Youth Coalition says staying involved is key. That's important because in today's society juveniles face a lot of problems. Harris believes that's because they don't have anyactivities to get involved in. Youth need to be a part of something andto feel they are worthwhile.

More than a hundred local teens attended the program.
