Bad Weather Washes Out Labor Day Plans

Posted — Updated

WAKE COUNTY — Monday's rain put a big damper on Labor Day activities.

The town of Holly Springs' big Labor Day Festival got started in good fashion, but the rain came and soaked the festivities.

In Raleigh, people used the holiday to go to malls and shopping centers. Once inside, shoppers were happy to be out of the rain.

"We did find us a (parking) spot riding back and forth," says shopper James Epps. "We wanted to do some yard work and such today, but didn't get to do that."

For the second day in a row, the rain forced the cancellation of the annual "Pops In the Park" concert. It will not be rescheduled.
