Graham, the school's homecoming queen and a cheerleader, loves to participate in the theater and chorus. Athletic director Bryant Wiggins says Graham is never afraid to work hard.
"She strives to do the best that she can in whatever it is, whether it is academics, volleyball, basketball, soccer, whatever. She is there to give her best effort," says athletic director Bryant Wiggins.
"My parents have always told me that if there is anything in life that you set your sights on and try to achieve, then you can do it just as long as you work hard," Graham says. "Anything that you want to do you can accomplish just as long as you work hard.
Linda Parker, a teacher at Harrells Christian Academy, says Graham, a honor student, gives extra effort in everything she does.
"She is a super student, and she is self-motivated. She is not motivated simply for grades, but it's for learning too," she says. "She is very interesting in learning and welcoming new ideas.
"Briana is genuinely a good girl. You can depend on her to do the right thing and best thing," she says.
Briana Graham is this week's winner of the Extra Effort Award. Tom Suiter's Extra Effort award airs Wednesdays during WRAL's 6:00 News.
