Fayetteville Police Release Description Of Drowned Teen

Investigators believe the man stepped into a ditch in the area of

Spruce Street and Stamper Road

and was swept away by rising waters.

"I saw him drop in the ditch," witness Allen Lamb said. "I jumped in the water, but I couldn't find him. The current was too strong. It almost swept me under."

Once the water subsided, the victim was found in a drain culvert in the 2000 block of Spruce Street. Officers believe the teen cut through a yard to avoid a flooded street.

The victim had no identification on him. He is described as being in a black male in his mid-teens to early twenties. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet tall and weighs 150 to 160 pounds.

He was wearing a white "Cavalier" basketball jersey, blue jean shorts with the word "Fayet-Nam" hand written in gold ink on one of the legs of the shorts and brown Timberland shoes.
