Snow, Rain Mix Expected In Triangle Tuesday Night

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle area is expected to see a wintry mix of snow and rain Tuesday night.

Officials expect to see anywhere from a trace of snow in the Triangle to possibly an inch on grassy surfaces. Travel on the roads is not expected to be a problem.

The eastern part of the WRAL viewing area is expected to receive rain.

The weather is expected to move out of the area by sometime overnight with higher temperatures expected later in the week.

Western parts of the state has already received a heavy dose of winter weather. Snow was reported in Boone, Asheville and West Jefferson areas, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Wednesday for the area from Swain County north to Avery County, where a dusting to an inch was reported by afternoon. Accumulations of 2 to 8 inches were expected by late afternoon in the warning area.
