Durham Police Investigate Homicide

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a homicide that occurred late Tuesday on Avondale Drive. Officers were sent to 2108 Avondale Drive at 10:43 p.m. and found a 22-year-old man who had been shot in the left side.

The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was taken to Durham Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told investigators they saw the victim struggling with two men inside the victim's car. One man is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 145 pounds with a slender build. He had smooth complexion and short hair. He was wearing a blue satin jacket with a team logo, possibly a New York team, on it, blue jeans and white sneakers.

The second man was wearing a red bandana and had a dark brown complexion. The two men were last seen leaving in a burgundy, mid-sized car.
