N.C. State Adding More Security After Series Of Robberies

Posted — Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A rash of crimes on the campus of N.C. State has campus police stepping up patrols and increasing security.

N.C. State police say they are looking for a suspect who they believe is responsible for four robberies and an attempted robbery in October.

"We get e-mails about it and it's kind of scary. It's like 'Oh, we've had another robbery on campus,'" N.C. State student Meredith Joyce said.

Officials have already set up random checkpoints to attempt to apprehend the suspect. Now, the university has hired three additional private security guards.

With the campus nestled in a large city, campus police suggest walking in groups or using the security escort service.

Campus police say this past week has been quiet with no reported activity from the suspect. Police say the checkpoints and increased visibility will show any criminal they mean business.
