Lumber Spill Causes Morning Backups

Posted — Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A tractor-trailer spilled its load of plywood, causing traffic hassles just inside the Wake County line Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. along Highway 70 at Guy Road.

The Highway Patrol said the tractor-trailer was travelling westbound when a left front tire blew out, causing the driver to overcorrect and cross into the median.

The truck was from a company in Whiteville and was carrying47,000 pounds of lumber. No one was hit or injured.

One lane in each direction was closed while the road was cleared. All lanes were reopened by 7 a.m.
