Scholarship Fund Set Up For Daughters Of Raeford Police Officer

Posted — Updated

RAEFORD, N.C. — The wife of a Raeford police officer who was killed in a car accident is getting some help from an unexpected source.

Cliff Stauffer, 33, was killed in a head-on collision in Moore County last month. The Highway Patrol said Stauffer, an off-duty Raeford police officer, was at fault. He crossed the center line and hit an oncoming car, injuring three people inside.

Dickson Press, the former employer of Stauffer's wife, has set up a scholarship fund for their 6-year-old twin daughters.

"We thought about Susan and her twins and getting them to college at the same time in 12 years," former employer Robert Dickson said.

The Stauffer girls are students at McLauchlin Elementary School.
