Pope Airmen Send Care Packages To Military Personnel Overseas

Posted — Updated

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. — Some military personnel serving overseas will soon get a reminder of home.

Airmen with the 43rd Airlift Wing at Pope Air Force Base were busy packing boxes full of books, magazines and candy on Wednesday.

The airmen hope the packages will lift the spirits of those working in Operation Enduring Freedom.

"This is a way to show our troops who are overseas, who don't get to come home every night and go to bed and play fetch with their dog and be with their families, that we're still thinking about them," said an airman.

Also included in the care packages are cards and letters from children from schools in New York and Pennsylvania.
