Jerry Crumpler has 16 years in the toy business. This year, he's seeing a surge in sales for real-life hero toys at the Wilson Wal-Mart.
"There are more figurines and dress-ups, all sorts of things dealing with firefighters, paramedics and police officers," Crumpler said.
As parents and grandparents search for toys, they are looking for role models to go under the tree this year.
"Because they help a whole lot in the country and I'm very proud of them," said grandparent Joyce Harris.
An assortment of teddy bears called "American Heroes," arrived at the Wilson Wal-Mart just a few days before Sept. 11 and they have been selling out ever since.
While boys will get most of the new hero toys, there are plenty for girls, too. Toy makers are including plenty of women in this year's crop of action figures.
