Nash County man in custody after officials said he shot father during argument

Officials said a father and son got into an argument on Tuesday, which led to the son shooting his father.

BAILEY, N.C. — Officials said a father and son got into an argument on Tuesday, which led to the son shooting his father.

Deputies with the Nash County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Bailey Police Department responded to 4179 Stoney Hill Church Road in Bailey. They found a man had been shot in the chest. He was then taken to WakeMed where his status is currently unknown.

Officials arrested Justin Dane Bailey, 36, of the same residence. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is being held under a $500,000 secured bond. Bailey's first court appearance is Thursday.

Investigators said the two men got into a verbal altercation, which led to Bailey shooting his father with a handgun.
