DURHAM, N.C. — A man said he had $20,000 worth of jewelry stolen from him in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings overnight.

The robbery occurred Monday before 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the restaurant, located at 6709 Fayetteville Road near Streets of Southpoint.

The victim, Jose Garcia, said he was standing in the parking lot with a group of friends when two men stole a $12,500 necklace off his neck and several rings, totaling $9,000. Garcia got into his Porsche and tried to chase the suspects while he called the police, but the men fired gunshots at his car, he said.

Garcia estimates at least 10 shots were fired, and five of those hit his car. One hit the tire and flattened it, forcing him to stop at a Sheetz several miles from the restaurant.

Garcia said the men threatened him with the gun.

"I was just walking to my car, and they hit me with the gun," Garcia said, pointing to his lip. "They stole my chain, my rings, and they took off."

Apart from his busted lip, Garcia was not injured. A search for the suspects, who Garcia said fled in a black car, was underway.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
