Man, friends escape massive fire after first night in new home

Firefighters quickly arrived to find the single-story home was "fully engulfed" in flames.

Firefighters were called to a home in a new subdivision called Lassiter Hills along NC-210 at around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Firefighters quickly arrived to find the single-story home was "fully engulfed" in flames.

The man living there had just moved in the night before; he and a few friends who had helped him move escaped the flames unharmed.

They were also able to push the car out of the garage to safety.

Officials are investigating what caused such huge flames in the new Johnston County home.

The American Red Cross will assist the homeowner.
