Garner man pleads guilty in girlfriend's shooting death
Winston Lewis, 36, pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the April 14, 2013, shooting that killed his girlfriend, Latasha Pierce.

GARNER, N.C. — A man accused of shooting his girlfriend last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of second-degree murder in the case.
Latasha Renee Pierce, 36, died April 15, 2013, a day after authorities say Winston Lewis shot her in the head inside a home on Delta Street in Garner.
Prosecutors have said that she and Lewis, 36, had been arguing and that a gun went off during a struggle.
Lewis was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder and was set to go to trial this month after initially rejecting a plea offer in the case.
He will be sentenced in February.
