Man, 35, shot, killed in Fayetteville neighborhood

On Saturday at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Cude St. after reports of shots being fired.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was shot and killed Saturday night in a Fayetteville neighborhood.

Around 9:10 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Cude St. after reports of shots being fired.

When they arrived, officers found a man with injuries identified as Markus McKnight, 35. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation is currently underway. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

A woman was shot and killed Saturday night in Fayetteville around 9:30 p.m. about 15 minutes away. Police did not connect the shootings.
