Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., 25, of Island Heights, N.J., was killed Monday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, officials said.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune Marine died Monday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., 25, of Island Heights, N.J., was killed while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, officials said.

Monahan was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
