SMITHFIELD, N.C. — The trial of a woman accused of killing her 4-year-old adopted son has been delayed until May.

Lynn Paddock is charged with the Feb. 26, 2006 death of her 4-year-old adopted son, Sean. Investigators said she wrapped Sean so tightly in a blanket that he suffocated.

Paddock's attorney insists the death was accidental, not punishment or discipline.

A prosecutor with the Johnston County District Attorney's Office said there are discovery issues that need to be resolved before trial.

The trial, which was slated to begin later in the week, has been continued on more than one occassion.
