Holly Springs jogger hit by car remains in critical; driver cited
A Holly Springs High School student has been cited in an accident that critically injured a jogger Monday morning.
Posted — UpdatedPolice said Tuesday that Carlos Solis-Reyes, 18, of Apex was cited with running a red light, failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, failure to yield causing serious bodily injury, careless and reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with a permit while not being accompanied by a licensed driver.
The latter two citations are misdemeanor charges.
The accident happened at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive about 6:30 a.m. Monday. Police said Derek Davis, 37, was trying to cross the road in the crosswalk with his wife when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Solis-Reyes.
Davis, a software developer at SAS, remained in critical condition Tuesday at WakeMed in Raleigh.
Solis-Reyes, who was not hurt in the crash, is scheduled to appear in court May 19.
