Heat, humidity return Thursday
After three days of below-normal temperatures, summer's heat and humidity will return to central North Carolina on Thursday.

"We topped out in the mid-80s on Wednesday, and will be will be noticeably hotter today," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "Get used to it, too, because we're going to stay hot and humid through the holiday weekend."
Thursday will start out in the 60s in the morning and steadily climb to an expected high of 92 degrees in Raleigh and 93 in Fayetteville. Skies will be sunny.
A chance of storms persists Thursday afternoon into Friday, but the holiday weekend is not expected to be a washout.
"It would simply be a situation where storms would pop up and it might rain an hour or two, but that will leave plenty of hours where it's not raining," WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said. "None of it will be that bad, so keep the faith."
